The LOTIS Model QC-10 system is an optical profiler for internal surfaces
of tubes, bores, holes, or other cavities up to one inch in diameter and over one inch deep. A small laser measurement footprint
combined with QC-10's ability to rapidly collect several hundred thousand data points allows detailed characterization of
complex surface geometries. Typical applications include stepped bores, splines, swaged tube ends, and out-of-round openings.
Because QC-10 uses noncontact gaging methods, it is particularly useful on compliant parts or parts with steps, keyways, etc.,
where traditional forms of contact gaging do not work. The measurement probe is mounted on an eccentric mechanism to adapt
to various part diameters as well as for profiling external surfaces.
This precision bore inspection unit interfaces with a PC-compatible
computer. The surface measurements are displayed as a two-dimensional contour plot. Cursor movement allows the user to examine
in detail features of the surface such as scratches, digs, molded or machined forms, and even honing-mark patterns. The optical
probe is less than 0.16 inch in diameter and can be detached for ease of maintenance. Larger probe sizes are available for
scanning larger parts.
