Description The Smart Pusher is a stand-alone probe delivery system designed for reliable performance under harsh field conditions. This lightweight and compact probe pusher is capable of being passed through a 12-inch by 16-inch (305- by 406-mm) elliptical manway and is compatible with most conventional NDE probes, including eddy current, ultrasonic, and magnetic flux leakage sensors. Available with a unique, self-winding take-up drum, the Smart Pusher provides variable insertion and retraction speeds as well as operator-programmable inspection rate, jog rate, and scan length. A rugged, hand-held control pendant employs an embedded microprocessor that allows an operator to quickly and simply program several automatic parameters. An encoder in the gear drive unit is scaled to provide position counts in TTL format via a utility connector on the unit. Position is also displayed with bright red LEDs on the pendant. Drive speed and position can be displayed in either English or metric units. The Smart Pusher allows operators to rapidly and accurately insert a probe to any location in a tube and then withdraw it at a preselected scan rate, providing well-controlled data acquisition for consistent inspection results
